30 Hour Famine

02/25/2011 - 6:30pm
02/26/2011 - 7:00pm

30 Hour Famine is a fundraiser to help in the fight against world hunger.  However, instead of just collecting money and sending it away, we will experience hunger first hand by going without food for 30 hours.  (We’ll have water & juice breaks to make sure we stay safe.)  We will be joining hundreds of thousands of young people across the world.

Everyone will begin fasting Friday, Feb. 25th after eating lunch and continue until 6PM on Saturday, Feb. 26th. We will connect at Grace Presbyterian Church, Friday night at 6:30pm for an opening rally with Grace Presbyterian Church and St. Barnabas UMC. Together, our youth groups will grow in awareness and understanding about world hunger.  We will spend the night at St. Barnabas, sleeping in cardboard box shelters.  Then on Saturday, each group will serve the community through a service project and go bowling. (Bring $10)  We will end our event with a closing worship and dinner at Trinity (you’ll be picked up here at 7pm).

Then on Sunday, Feb. 27th, we will meet at Bristol at 8am and drive to Waco for Church Under the Bridge. CUB is a worship service of Mission Waco and is held under the I-35 overpass across the street from Baylor University. You do not have to participate in both of these events (We hope you do!), but you do need to sign up in advance.
